RESPONSIBILITIES

Area Designer

Designed, stubbed out conversations, quests, scripted all gameplay, and blocked out all POIs, for the following quests: 

First Contact with the Enemy

- The player finds a soldier panicked about their fallen comrades, and then explores a dungeon built in the skeleton of a giant creature in order to track down them down and learn the truth of what happened between them.

- This quest was later chosen as a showcase for a gameplay deep dive (link at top of page), essentially the first look at our game. I was deeply humbled by this opportunity, and collaborated with many others to bring this entire quest to full shipping quality before any other content in the game.

Forged of Star Stuff

- A region-spanning quest to collect meteorite fragments, and take them to a forge to get one of the most powerful items in the game

Nature vs. Nurture

- A fairly simple quest where you meet a powerful hermit whose been siccing a group of lizard people (called Xaurips) on farmers and destroying their equipment in hopes of saving the land

One Last Drink

- A retired sea captain wants to see his old crew again, and asks the player to find them around the region, but his motives turn out to not be so pure.

- I had the wonderful opportunity on this quest to work with a very talented narrative designer to make some major revisions pretty late in its development. But it made this quest much more fleshed out and with a lot of additional reactivity. 

That Which Remains

- The player finds a burned-down settlement. By solving some puzzles, they find a key to a well. They find a few researchers hiding down in an underground grotto with a group of zombified family members and friends.

Twin Offerings Overlook

- A bounty location with twin peaks. A group of xaurips (lizard people) have destroyed the bridges along the way to keep their zombified comrades away. Also the home of a major narrative dream sequence.

Thirdborn Town

- The main town in the Shatterscarp region. Created the blockout, taking into account all the quest locations, various landmarks, and extra exploration for loot.
